40 ft Sparkman & Stephens Sloop - Verkauft

A beautifully original and well kept Sparkman & Stephens varnished mahogany sloop - built by Walsted Boat Yard in Denmark in 1967, she is mahogany planked on laminated oak frames, bronze structural floors and lead keel. Fast and sea kindly; this yacht has benefitted from wintering under cover and being in the same ownership for the last nine years.

Carvel construction – mahogany planking on laminated oak frames; bronze fastened, lead keel and independently hung spade rudder.

Deck layout is of the ‘sixties’ with flush foredeck, wide side decks, either side of a traditional trunk cabin, well proportioned and running aft to slightly towed in mahogany coamings. The teak deck was reconditioned 5 years ago.

The cockpit is deep; the side seats are located at the same level as the main decking. The yacht’s wheel and compass binnacle are located at the aft end of the cockpit and there is a teak table that neatly stows when not in use (attached to binnacle).

The deck hardware in the cockpit area is made up of the original bronze winches, with primary and secondary winches mounted outboard of the cockpit coaming.

There is a teak grab rail running the full length of the trunk cabin, both sides, 2 dorade style vents on teak boxes and in front of the mast, a hatch to access the forward accommodation.

The foredeck has another dorade style vent and teak box.

The interior joinery is mahogany and teak, the cabin sole is teak and hollie. The deckhead is painted white. Entering the yacht’s saloon through the main companionway, via teak steps; there is a galley immediately to port with a 2 burner stove, sink and hot/cold mixer taps. There is plenty of storage for crockery and provisions in lockers and cupboards, both under the stove and outboard under the side decks.

Opposite the galley, on the starboard side is a navigation area, with a top loading fridge/freezer below the desk top.

The main saloon is made up of a settee berth, port and starboard, either side of a centre line fixed saloon table with pilot berths above the settees. There is plenty of storage in the form of lockers and drawers under the settees and pilot berths. 5 ports in the trunk cabin on either side give excellent light to below decks.

Moving forward in the boat there is a heads compartment to port with a rather in keeping Blake victory manual WC and wash basin. Opposite this compartment is a hanging locker and a massive storage area with many drawers.

The forward cabin is made up of a V Berth with again plenty of storage under the berth port and starboard. There is a large hatch in the deckhead, which is till part of the trunk cabin, allowing ample headroom. The final trunk cabin ports also give good light to this space.

There is a sail stowage area under the foredeck, forward of the V-berth.
